Camilla "Cim" P. Smith

1929-2012 Miss Camilla "Cim" Parker Smith, age 82, of Canaan, N.Y. died on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her home.

She was born in Pittsfield, November 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Capt. Sydney R. and Marjorie S. Parker Smith. She was educated at St. Agnes School for Girls in Albany, N.Y. and Blackstone College for Girls in Blackstone, Va.

Ms Smith was the Editor of Harper Magazine in New York City until the death of her Father in 1964 when she returned to Canaan to assist her Mother in operating Smith Sporting Books as an Equestrian Antique Book Dealer.

She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour in New Lebanon, N.Y., a member of the American Whippet Association for many years as well as showing and breeding Whippets and former member of the Public Relations Board at Berkshire Farm Center in Canaan, NY. Cim was also a 32 year member of the Canaan Zoning Board of Appeals.

She is survived by her long time companion and best friend, Lorraine Maslanka of Canaan, a Sister, Daphne B. S. Kellogg of Southern Pines, N.C. and a brother, Sydney Napier Smith of Southbury, Conn., one nephew and two nieces.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Miss Camilla "Cim" Parker Smith, 82 of Canaan died Sunday, August 5, 2012.

A graveside service at the Cemetery of the Evergreens in New Lebanon, NY will be announced at a later date. There are no calling hours.
