1927 - 2015 ADAMS Carlyle V. "Gunner" Smith, 88, of 150 Columbia St., passed away Friday evening, August 28, 2015 at the North Adams Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Adams on February 15, 1927, son of the late Adelbert and Mabel Payette Smith he attended Adams schools. He was first employed with the former Berkshire Mills in Adams and then for the former Arnold Print Works in Adams, where he retired. Carlyle was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams, he was an avid golfer. Carlyle is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Lagess, whom he married on April 11, 1953, a brother, Avis Perrea of Pittsfield, a sister-in-law, Barbara Lagess of Adams, a brother-in-law, Bruce Lagess and his wife, Linda of Cheshire, and nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Vernon and Royal Smith, and a sister, Laurel Daigneault. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Carlyle will take place Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 12Noon from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with the Rev. Steven G. Montesanti, Pastor of the Parish of St. John Paul II in Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 11a.m. until the time of the service. Donations in his memory can be made to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
