Carol Ruth Carrigan

1935-2012 PITTSFIELD Carol Ruth Carrigan, 76, of 42 Linden Street, Pittsfield, died Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on October 22, 1935, a daughter of Raymond and Lola Philbrick O'Connor, she was graduate of Pittsfield schools.

Mrs. Carrigan was a secretary. She was first employed by Berkshire Life Insurance Company for 20 years and more recently by Child Care of The Berkshires for several years. She retired in 1982.

She was a communicant of St. Charles Church.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading, and shopping. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Carrigan is survived by her former husband, William A. Carrigan, of Pittsfield; a son, Patrick T. Carrigan, of Mancus, Colorado; four daughters, Kathleen E. Carrigan of Vancouver, Washington, Laurie B. Connor and her husband, Kevin, of Pittsfield, Lisa A. Kirchner and her husband, Thomas, of Londonderry, N.H., and Suzanne G. Doner of Pittsfield; a sister Gail Turle and her husband, Ron, of Reno, Nevada; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grand-child.

She was pre-deceased by two sons, Michael Richard Carrigan and William James Carrigan, and a daughter, Colleen Chambers; a son-in-law, Thomas Doner; a sister, Barbara Daoust and a brother, David O'Connor.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Carol Ruth Carrigan will be held Thursday, September 20, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Carrigan may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County or to Meals on Wheels, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
