1940 - 2014 LENOX Carol Skutnik passed into life eternal on Feb. 2, 2014, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, with her daughter, Shari Alderton, by her side. Born in East Longmeadow, to Henry N. Fatzinger and Florence B. Fatzinger, Carol was the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Springfield's Technical High School in 1957. A year later, Carol married Army veteran, Edward Skutnik, and soon moved to Lenox, where they built their home. Carol and Ed were married for 54 years, during which time, they enjoyed their family, bowling, world traveling, and exploring in their motor home for 10 years, and entertaining at their homes in Lenox and Sarasota. Her husband, Ed, passed away on July 7, 2012, and her youngest daughter, Suzanne Skutnik, passed away on Dec. 20, 1999. Carol is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife, Dottie, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Shari Alderton and her husband, Robert, of Lenox; seven grandchildren, John, Samantha, Marrissa and Jenna Skutnik, and Amy, Robbie and Ryan Alderton. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Nancy Schumann, of Springfield and Marilyn Eaton and her husband, Bill, of Norway, Maine; brother-in-law, Stanley Skutnik and his wife, Margaret, of Ware, and many neices, nephews and friends. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial donations, in Carol's name, can be made to Shriners Hospital of Springfield, or Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston.
