1919 - 2015 NORTH BENNINGTON Mrs. Catherine Buzek, 96, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2015 at River's Edge Community Care Home in Bennington. Born in Scranton, PA, June 22, 1919, the daughter of Andrew and Anastasia Yalick Billek, she attended the local schools there. Primarily a homemaker in New Jersey, she worked for a time as a typist at a direct mail company there. She was a longtime member of the Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church in Garfield, NJ. Mrs. Buzek moved to this area in 2004 to make her home with her daughter and became a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Pittsfield. She and her husband, the late William T. Buzek, were married for 56 years before his passing on January 4, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Colbert of North Bennington, VT, her son, John Buzek of Dover, NJ, two grandsons and three great-grandsons, Adam Cohn and his wife, Allison and their sons, Benjamin, Elliott, and Joshua, and Daniel Cohn and his wife Rachel. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by eight siblings. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Mrs. Catherine Buzek will be on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 9:30a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, with A Divine Liturgy at 10:30a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church with the Rev. Barnabas Fravel pastor, officiating. Burial will be on Saturday at 1p.m. in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in care of the funeral home.
