Cesarina Balardini

1920-2014 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Cesarina Balardini, 93, of 305 Barker Road, Pittsfield, died Sunday, May 11 , 2014 at her home. She formerly had made her home at 10 Crosier Avenue in Pittsfield. She was born in Postalesio, Province of Sondrio, Italy on July 1, 1920, a daughter of the late Antonio and Corina Dalone Delmolino. She attended schools in Italy and came to the United States in 1958. She was employed in the housekeeping department of the former St. Luke's Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center for 25 years and retired in 1985. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed cooking, dancing, gardening, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family. Her husband, Cesare A. Balardini, whom she married on November 17, 1938, died on August 18, 2009. Survivors include one son, Luciano Balardini and his wife, Diane, of Pittsfield; three daughters, Dalia Podavini of Pittsfield, Gina Casino and her husband, Frank, of Pittsfield with whom she made her home, and Rosa Gross and her husband, Michael, of Windsor; two brothers and one sister, Sergio and Ilario Delmolino and Bruna Delmolino, all of Postalesio, Italy; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Carchedi and Kathryn Tassone. She was predeceased by one sister, Emma Delmolino. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, May 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
