Charles R. DeForest
1928 - 2014 DALTON Charles R. DeForest, 85, of 644 Main Street, Dalton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Lee on June 9, 1928, the son of Charles R. and Theresa Wool DeForest, he was educated in Lee schools. Mr. DeForest was employed as a truck driver for Petricca Construction for many years, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired in 1990. He enjoyed NASCAR and automobile racing at Lebanon Valley. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed golf. Mr. DeForest's wife, the former Joy A. Lewis, whom he married June 10, 1950, died Sep. 25, 2004. He is survived by three sons, Robert C. DeForest and his wife, Paula, of Pittsfield, David J. DeForest of Pittsfield, and Jeffrey A. DeForest and his companion, Sue Fitzgerald, of Hinsdale; five daughters, Tina L. Baumann and her husband, Bill, of Pittsfield, Bonnie M. Fallon and her husband, Jim, of Pittsfield, Hope A. Blake and her husband, Bob, of Dalton, Polly J. Whitestone and her husband, Ken, of Dalton, and Patricia M. Baczek and her husband, Jim, of Dalton, as well as sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Charles R. DeForest will be private. Burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
