Charles Fowler died at Noble Hospital on January 9, 2016 at the age of 87.He was the son of the late Alma (Manson) and Paul Fowler. A native of Lee, he attended Lee schools and graduated from George Washington High School in New York City. He attended the city college of New York and subsequently entered the United States Army. After a career of 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, he joined the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1971 for a second career. Charles retired from the company in 1988 as Vice President of the Human Resources Department. Charles was an active supporter of human service agencies in Springfield, having served on the boards of the Northern Educational Service, Metropolitan Springfield YMCA, Springfield Boys Club, Goodwill Industries, Experiment with Travel, Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Pioneer Valley, and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Charles is survived by his close friend, Robert Bourgeois and his family. Interment was held in Lee Cemetery.
