Charles Anthony Papa, Jr.

1931 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Charles (Charlie) Papa, 84, passed away on September 21st after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pittsfield, MA on August 14, 1931, he was the youngest of four children of the late Charles A. Papa and Grace (Blancato) Papa. Charlie graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1951. He honorably served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as a Medic. After leaving the military, he joined the Post Office and served as a Letter Carrier for 42 years. Charlie was an avid poker player and fan of college football. In addition, he enjoyed gardening and building puzzles. He was also a dedicated family man who loved visiting his children and grandchildren on a frequent basis. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emily (Briggs) Papa, his three children: Christine Theroux and her husband, Mark, of Raynham, MA: Corinne Fioravanti and her husband, Paul, of Cranston, RI and his son, Charles (Chuck) Papa II of Glenmore, PA; along with six grandchildren: Nicholas and Anthony Fioravanti, Alexandra Theroux, and Kaden, Charlie and Addison Papa. He is also survived by one brother, James Papa and was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Papa. The family would like to thank their extended family and friends who supported him and his wife during this time. In addition, the family wanted to thank the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Care for their quality care and compassion. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10a.m. at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory officiating. Visitation at St. Charles Church will be from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
