Charlotte Stafford

1926 - 2013 DALTON Charlotte Brusie Stafford, formerly of 7 Broadview Terrace, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Avon Health Center in Avon, Conn.

Charlotte was born in Chatham, N.Y., on Sept. 11, 1926, the daughter Edward and Edith McIntyre Brusie.

Charlotte graduated from Chatham High School in 1944 and completed her professional training at the Mildred Elley Secretarial School for Girls in 1945.

From there she held positions within Crane and Company for several years before dedicating herself to her family. In addition to her work at Crane and Company, Charlotte was a volunteer at the former Pittsfield General Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center, the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, the Advisory Committee for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, and the Camp Fire Girls.

She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where she also volunteered with school activities.

Charlotte devoted herself to family while creating a lifetime of wonderful memories for them. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was married to William E. Stafford for 56 years until his death on Jan. 18, 2005.

She is survived by her son, William E. Stafford, Jr., and his wife, Susan, of South Windsor, Conn.; her daughter, Maureen S. Chapdelaine, and her husband Paul, of West Simsbury, Conn.; her daughter, Eileen Shattuck and her husband, Jay of Trumbull, Conn., and 10 loving grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Charlotte B. Stafford will be held Saturday, April 13, at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dalton Ambulance and Rescue in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
