1944 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Pittsfield - Cheryl E. Stracuzzi, 67, of 29 Baker Street in Lanesboro passed away Saturday at Providence Care Center in Lenox after a yearlong battle with leukemia.
Born on August 17, 1944 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth M. Hammer and the late Ruth Lyons Pelkey. A longtime resident of Lanesboro, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A homemaker, she had worked at one time at General Electric, Peachies Beauty Salon and as a dispatcher for Bennett Motor Express. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, camping, horseback riding and going on motorcycle rides.
She leaves her husband, Vincent F. Stracuzzi whom she married on December 16, 1967. A daughter; Lisa M. Loehr and her husband Todd of Pittsfield, a son; Vincent J. Stracuzzi of Pittsfield. A brother; David L. Pelkey and his wife Alice of Dalton and a sister; Judy A. Depson and her husband Frank of Lanesboro. Her four grandchildren; Victoria Mason, Andrea Loehr, Shaun Borden and Anthony Stracuzzi. Her nephew: David M. Pelkey and her niece; Wendy Wager. She also leaves her great niece; Kaytlin Stringer and her four sisters-in-law; Concetta Stracuzzi-Rochelo and her husband William, Natalie Stracuzzi-Williams, Roseann Paris and Antoinette DeMar and her husband Francis as well as other nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Cheryl E. Stracuzzi, 67, who died April 21, 2012 will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME conducted by Deacon Robert Esposito of Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael the Arch Angel Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home.
Memorial donations in memory of Cheryl may be made to the Dana Farber Brigham & Women's Cancer Unit or to the Berkshire Humane Society both in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
