Chester "Ali" Alibozek

1934 - 2014 CHESHIRE Mr. Chester Francis "Ali" Alibozek, 80, of 690 Sandmill Road, died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Adams on Jan. 13, 1934, a son of the late Chester and Eleanor (Mikuszewski) Alibozek. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1951. Mr. Alibozek was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army 82nd Airbourne Division and worked in the Pentagon as a Polish Translator until receiving his Honorable Discharge on March 31, 1955. Chester last worked as a construction superintendent for the former D. Krutiak Construction Co., Adams and previously worked for Petricca Construction. He was a proud member of the Polish American Club in South Deerfield, the Adams Post 160 American Legion, and a past member of the Maple Grove Civic Club and St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, Adams. Remembered for his quick wit and infectious smile, Chester was extremely proud of all his grandchildren, spending much of his time sharing their successes and achievements with friends and family members, keeping his own scrapbook of newspaper clippings for reference. He was an avid sports fan of the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Tigers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and LPGA golf. He played softball for teams in Adams and North Adams until his late fifties, winning many tournaments and awards for his expertise on the pitching mound. He is survived by one daughter,Linda Saharczewski and her fiance, Tony Grandshaw, of Adams; two sons, Douglas Alibozek and his wife, Carrie, and Richard "Chez" Alibozek and his wife, Amy, all of Adams; six grandchildren, Kristin Saharczewski, Kelsey Alibozek, and Nathan, Chad, Trevor and Derek Alibozek; one brother, Francis Alibozek and his wife, Ginger, of Feeding Hills; three sisters, Helen Durant and her husband, Francis, of Adams, Josephine Trimarchi of Adams and Frances Whiteman of Guilford, Conn; his former wife and friend, Frances (Straczek) Alibozek of Adams; and his former son-in-law and friend, Richard Saharczewski of Adams; and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 12:30 p.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 1 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
