Clayton A. Beauchaine Sr.

1927-2012 Clayton A. Beauchaine Sr, of 4 Pomeroy Street in West Stockbridge, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

He was born in Pittsfield on October 11, 1927 son of Earl H. Sr. and Lillian K. Noble Beauchaine. He was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church in Pittsfield. He was educated in Pittsfield schools. He served in the army from 1945 to when he was honorably discharged in 1947.

He moved to Great Barrington in 1961 where he raised his family until moving to West Stockbridge in 1998. Clayton was employed by Peter J Schweitzer in Lee and then by General Electric retiring in 1985. He then worked part time for the West Stockbridge Post Office. He and his wife the former Betty Jane Williams spent ten years wintering in Florida. She passed away on April 19, 2010. He was a member of the Council On Aging and of The Greater Years, both in West Stockbridge. He also volunteered as a driver for the Senior Transportation. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed oil painting and playing cards and was a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox. Clayton leaves five daughters, Juliette Agar and her husband Brian of Cambridge, N.Y., Carol Curtis and husband Warren of Housatonic, Nancy Donovan and her husband Jake of Stockbridge, Susan Granger and her husband Kevin of North Egremont and Jaynee Williams and her husband George of West Stockbridge, one son, Clayton (Pete) Beauchaine Jr. and his wife Marissa of Lee, nine grandchildren, David Wright, Jennifer Rossi, Adam and Kyle Agar, Erin Albert, Kristofer Granger, Kristen and Travis Marks and Stephanie Beauchaine, and 12 great grandchildren and one great great grand daughter. He also leaves a brother Earl Beauchaine Jr. of Pittsfield and a sister Constance DeForest of Anaheim, Calif. Besides his wife Betty, Clayton was also predeceased by a daughter, Linda Wright in 2000 and two sisters, Evelyn Fetridge and Rosemary Blanquart.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Clayton A. Beauchaine Sr, who died September 25, will be held on Saturday September 29, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Great Barrington, with the Reverend Charles VanAusdal , pastor officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday September 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
