1920 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Concetta M. Sheppard 94, of Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at Mount Carmel Care Center of Lenox. She was born in Pittsfield on Jan. 2, 1920 a daughter of Samuel and Sadie (Ackley) Scullary. She attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1937 and attended Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield. During World War II she was secretary for the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 - 1945 in Washington, D.C. and for 20 years for Building Contractors Association of New Jersey and for 7 years for the Ewing-Lawrence sewage authority in Trenton, N.J. and in 1974 she moved back to Pittsfield where she was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Mental Health & Retardation Departments and retired in 1992. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was a volunteer for R.S.V.P., Red Cross, and Boy's Club, and was a Life Member of the Sons of Italy Lodge No. 564 and a member of the Golden Seniors. She enjoyed bingo, dancing, reading, cooking, traveling, crossword puzzles. She was the widow of Sylvanus Sheppard who died on June 18, 1970 and they were married on Nov. 18, 1945. Survivors include two sons, Wayne J. Sheppard and his wife, Hazel of Rockport, MA and Steven S. Capraio and his wife, Pamela of Kansas City, MO, one brother; S. Rocco Scullary of Pittsfield, one sister, Rita M. Minafra of Pittsfield, one granddaughter, Adriana Capraio, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Judge James J. Scullary. FUNERAL NOTICE: In accordance with her wishes Cremation will take place and Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
