1936 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Constance C. (Sprague) Bird -Palumbo - Lavigne, 77, of 4 Walker Street died on Nov. 19, 2014 at North Adams Commons surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the town of Williamstown on Dec. 30, 1936 a daughter of the late Edwin & Birdine (Larabee) Sprague and stepdaughter of Viola Sprague. She attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from Dalton High School. She was employed at Sprague Electric Company and later at Subway in Williamstown and North Adams, where her family owned stores. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary VFW post # 996, and was a cancer survivor and participated in the Relay for Life. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with family. She was a full time fan supporting all of her grandsons sporting events. She leaves her two sons, F. John Bird Jr. of Adams, and Frank Bird and his wife, Terri of Clarksburg. She leaves six grandchildren, Aaron Bird, Ryan Bird, Matthew Bird, Tanner Bird, Nolan Bird and Hayden Bird. She leaves her longtime friend, Betty Belding and Courtney Bussiere, her sisters, Nancy Bernier, Rose Malloy, Sandra Nolan, Judith Brazee, and two brothers, John Strack and Horace Greenlaw and many nieces, nephews and long time friends. She was predeceased by her husband, John Lavigne, a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Palumbo and a daughter in law, Sally Bird. She was also predeceased by her longtime companion, Frank "Coach" Nolan, sister's Donna, Jeannie and Vina; brothers, Edward, Ken, Harry & Freddie. Connie's family would also like to thank the staff at North Adams Commons for all the support that was given in this very difficult time. The love and amazing care will always be appreciated and never forgotten. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for Constance Lavigne will be held on Tuesday Nov. 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in North Adams at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes-WEST CHAPEL 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247.
