Constance K. Lockenwitz

1927-2014 Constance K. Lockenwitz, 86, of West Stockbridge, Mass., died March 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Gladys and Ralph Wheeler on June 26, 1927 in Egremont, Mass. After the death of her mother, Connie went to live with her Aunt and Uncle, Emma and Jack Proper in Egremont, Mass. Connie graduated from Searles High School in 1945. She married the late James Lockenwitz in 1946. He died in 1991. Connie was a homemaker, and is best known for her delicious Sour Cream Coffee Cakes, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and her warm, welcoming, hospitality. Most of all she will be remembered as a wonderful, loving, and caring mother and grandmother. Connie is survived by eight children, Peter Lockenwitz and his wife Priscilla, Paul (Digger) Lockenwitz and his partner Paula, Philip Lockenwitz and his wife Pam, all of West Stockbridge, Preston Lockenwitz and his wife Paula of Palmetto, Fla., Patsy Dombrowski and her husband Ted of Mt. Washington, Mass., Peggy Pegorari and her husband David of Housatonic, Parker Lockenwitz and Pam Race of West Stockbridge; 12 grandchildren, Paul, Darren, Tammy, Kristie, Marcie, Jason, Katie, Jessica, Jody, Matthew, Nicholas and Megan; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kira, Garrett, Aiden, Gage, Katlyn, Ethan, Hailey, Jason, Hannah, Blake and Mason, as well as a brother, Roland Wheeler of North Egremont, and a sister Ruth Avenia of Hillsdale, NY. Many loving and caring nieces, nephews, and friends also survive Connie. Her brother, Ralph Wheeler, sister, Mary Salisbury, and a granddaughter, Diane Lockenwitz, predeceased her. FUNERAL NOTICE: Per Connie's request, there will be no calling hours. A remembrance of Connie's life will be held at the Stockbridge Sportsman's Club in Stockbridge, MA on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 6:00 pm with Chaplain of Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts Dennis Castella officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts through Birches-Roy Funeral Home 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230.
