Craig K. Dean

1959-2016 Pittsfield Mr. Craig K. Dean, 57, of Pittsfield, passed away at home on April 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsfield on February 2, 1959 the son of Albert "Laddie" and Jeannette Schroeder Dean, he attended local schools. Mr. Dean worked for the Pittsfield Public Schools for 32 years until his retirement in 2010. He had a great love for his job and was former President of the Custodial Union Local 1315. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going for long car rides. He would follow his teams on the radio as he drove. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening. In his younger years he played softball and hockey. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family. Mr. Dean is survived by his wife, the former Angela Skinner, whom he married on July 17, 1994. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Dean and Laddie Dean; 5 siblings, Christie Grien and her husband Robert of Port St. Lucie, Carl Dean and his wife Angela of North Carolina, Lisa Hunter and her husband Paul of North Andover, MA, Vicky Kolodziej and her husband Fran, of Pittsfield and Jeffrey Dean and his wife Lisa of Pittsfield; a brother in law, John Ewing and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jennifer Dean and Connie Ewing. He also leaves his dog and faithful companion, Josie. Craig's family would like to thank the doctor's and staff of Berkshire Hematology Oncology for the treatment and support they gave Craig and his family. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mr. Craig K. Dean will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with the Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to of Berkshire County Central South, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
