Dana Paul LaDuke

1931 - 2015 Dana Paul LaDuke (Paul), formerly of Lee and Dalton, MA, passed away on November 23, 2015 at Helen Porter Nursing Home Memory Unit in Middlebury, VT. Paul was born on April 9, 1931 in Bellows Falls, VT to Walter and Stella (McLaughlin) LaDuke. Paul enjoyed many childhood summers at the family farm in Caribou, ME and at the family cottage on Forest Lake in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Paul graduated from high school in 1948 in Dalton, MA. He attended college in Michigan State and served in the US Air Force at Elgin Air Force Base in Florida from 1950-1954. He joined Western Mass. Electric Co. of Pittsfield, MA in 1956 and was appointed to assistant manager in 1971. He retired in 1991 after 35 years with the company. He also served on the Dalton Planning Board and Dalton School Building Committee as well as the Lee Planning Commission and Department of Public Works. He was a member of the Dalton American Legion, the Pittsfield Kiwanis Club and Community Chest and the Lee Kiwanis Club. After retiring, he worked at Tanglewood with his wife, Elaine, as a gate attendant and volunteered at the National Archives and Records in Pittsfield. Paul and Elaine spent their time together traveling, hiking, camping and cross country skiing as well as their love of reading. Paul and Elaine moved to the Terraces in Shelburne, VT in 2012 to be closer to their family. He was predeceased by his parents and step-mother, Dorothy Allen LaDuke. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, the former Elaine Thebodo and daughters, Dawn LaDuke and husband, Tom Brown of Burke, VA, Debi Buergert of Chesapeake, VA, Judy Zullo and husband, Dave of Shelburne, VT and son, Paul LaDuke and wife, Eileen of Vergennes, VT. He also leaves behind one half-brother, Grant Boyd and two step-sisters, Grace and Barbara Boyd. In addition, he leaves behind nine grandchildren, Kyle and Julieanna Novak, Kara and Brian Buergert, Jamie Mills and Nick LaDuke, and Alec, Jack and Tiffany Zullo and one great-granddaughter, Leila LaDuke. The family would like to thank the VNA, the Helen Porter Nursing Home and Bayada Hospice for the loving care they provided. SERVICES: A private memorial service will be held in April, 2016.
