1975-2013 PITTSFIELD Daniel Pastie, age 38, of Skaneateles, N.Y. died on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Francis House in Syracuse, N.Y., after suffering a cerebral aneurysm in early August. Born in Pittsfield on January 21, 1975 the son of Paul and Barbara Pastie, he was a 1993 graduate of Pittsfield High School. As a teenager, Dan worked as a farmhand and herd manager at Noble's Dairy Farm in Pittsfield. His initial exposure to farming became a lifetime passion, as he dedicated his life to the dairy industry. Dan graduated from SUNY College of Agriculture and Technology in Cobleskill, N.Y. in 1996 with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Animal Science. At the time of his passing, Dan was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for DFA Farm Supplies in Syracuse, N.Y. Dan had a true heart for people. He was an incredible, loving friend who cherished many childhood friendships. His laughter filled up a room. Dan was often told that his presence was 'As big as Texas'. He dedicated his life to helping everyone. His love for his family was paramount. Dan was a loving uncle and he spent countless hours guiding his nephew through expert Lego building. Dan enjoyed travel, music, concerts, reading and walking in nature. He peacefully left this world with his loving family by his side. Dan is survived by his parents, Paul and Barbara Pastie of Pittsfield; his sister. Michelle Scarpellino of Wellington, Fla.; his nephew, Daniel Scarpellino of Wellington, Fla.; and his former wife, Ellen L. Pastie of Lakeland, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Daniel P. Pastie will be held Friday, September 13, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Dery Funeral Home.
