Daniel R. Scaia
1943 - 2013 READSBORO, VT. Daniel Robert Scaia, 69, of 6934 Main St., died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. While he faced much adversity, he always maintained a positive outlook on life.
He was born in North Adams on April 6, 1943, son of Reno and Ida (Marchegiani) Scaia. He attended schools in Readsboro and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams in 1961.
Daniel served in the Vermont Army National Guard for six years.
He was last employed by National Grid and the former New England Power Co. in Monroe.
He was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Daniel was a member of Post #29 American Legion in Readsboro and the Trentino Society. Dan enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was especially proud of his two grandchildren.
His wife, the former Linda M. Lawson, whom he married July 30, 1966, died June 1, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Laureen Mathon, and her husband, Michael, of Shelburne, Vt., and two grandchildren, Claire and Daniel Mathon.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Daniel Scaia will be celebrated Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 12 Noon at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Burial will be later in the spring in Village Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
