David J. Fisher 1927 - 2012 POWNAL, VT David J. Fisher, 84, of 7529 Route 7, Pownal, died Sunday, July 15, 2012. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y. on Aug. 3, 1927, son of the late David and Hazel (Grabo) Fisher. Mr. Fisher was a 1944 graduate of Draper High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Union College in 1949. He was a decorated veteran of World War ll. In 1948, Mr. Fisher began his employment at General Electric as a Lab Assistant. In 1960, he transferred to West Milton, N.Y. working at the submarine nuclear reactor test site. He transferred back to Pittsfield in 1969, and retired in 1986, with six patents and three Management Awards to his credit. He was married to Theresa O'Leary from 1948 until her death on June 15, 1980. He then married Barbara McConnell. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Mr. Fisher is survived by three sons, Frederick Fisher of Rhinebeck, NY, David Fisher, Jr. of Washington, MA, Dennis Fisher of Brooklyn, NY and three daughters, Janet Ottendorf of Duanesburg, NY, Susan Luczynski of North Adams, and Nancy Underwood of Clarksburg. He also leaves three step-children, Wendy Accetta of Charlotte, NC, Jeff Lussier of Hudson, MA and Julie Lussier of Hunterville, NC, as well as 13 grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, MacKenzie, Cullen, Rachel, Erin, Dylan, Ryan, Zachary, Emily, Sarah, Jordon and Stratton, and one great-grandchild, Stella Rose. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Marie Fisher, and his brother, Edgar Fisher. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service with military honors for David J. Fisher will be held in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA, on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
