Deborah A. Girard 1958-2011 LENOX DALE Deborah A. Grady Girard, 53, of 529 Walker Street, Lenox Dale, a former longtime resident of Connecticut, died Saturday, December 30, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Hartford, Conn., on July 4, 1958, a daughter of Ellen Canny Grady and the late Martin J. Grady, she was educated in Hartford schools and was a 1976 graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford. She continued her education and trained at EMT Medical School to obtain her Emergency Medical Technician license. Ms. Girard worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in the Connecticut area. Then, from 1988 until 1996, she was employed by Elder Services in Simsbury, and from 1997 to 1999, was a driver education instructor in Torrington. She retired in 2006 due to ill health. She was a member of the Northway Church of the Berkshires and a member of the First Congregational Church of Otis. She enjoyed traveling and driving, dancing to Motown music, swimming, and the Fall season. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Ms. Girard is survived by a son, Joseph M. Girard and his fiancee, Nadine Parise and her son, "Joshy", of Pittsfield; a brother, Kevin P. Grady and his wife, Janice of Amston, Conn., three sisters, Ellen M. O'Grady of Lenox Dale, and Mary B. Arni and Susan A. Grady, both of Torrington; two grandchildren, Aubrey S. Howell and Gavhin M. Girard; three nephews, Michael LeBel, Brian O'Grady, and Lee Harrison; a niece, Bree LeBel; a grandniece, Valerie, and a grandnephew, Noah; as well as numerous cousins, including Mary Chaffe of Otis and Mary Hopkins of Connecticut; and her former husband, William Girard of Cape Cod. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Mary Bridget Grady and a brother, Martin J. Grady. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Deborah A. Girard, will be held Friday, January 6, at 1 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, with Pastor Paul Howlett of the Northway Church of The Berkshires officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Deborah's sister, Mary B. Arni, to help with expenses in care of the Funeral Home.
