Diane Thompson Obituary
Diane L. Homa Thompson

1960-2014 PITTSFIELD Diane Homa Thompson, age 54, passed away at the Concord Hospital Hospice House in New Hampshire on November 29, 2014 after a long, brave fight from bone cancer. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Thompson of 22 years, where they lived in Tilton, N.H. She was born August 28, 1960 to Charles F. Homa and the Arlene Shubert Homa of Pittsfield. In addition to her husband and her father she is also survived by her sisters, Charlene (Homa) Wehry of Pittsfield, Karen Homa of Orford, N.H., and Nancy (Homa) Chicoire of North Adams; her cousins, Andrew Mains and April (Mains) Lewis of Bailyville, Maine and Arthur Mains of Calais, Maine. She is also survived by her son, Jimmy Poulin and her daughter, Faith Cole, both of Maine. Additional survivors include her husband's two brothers, Dick Thompson of Searsport, Maine and Bruce Thompson of Webster, N.H. Diane was a 1978 graduate of Pittsfield High School and then attended Berkshire Community College taking environmental and conservation courses in Pittsfield. She was an avid local figure skater during her adolescent years, having won many medals in freestyle competitions. She achieved the gold medal qualification level in freestyle figure skating from the United States Figure Skating Association. She then went on to teach figure skating as a professional at local Berkshire County figure skating clubs. One of her biggest passions in later years was trout fishing in the lakes and streams of New Hampshire, dragging her husband through the underbrush, trees, and streams to find that big elusive fish that no one has yet caught. Her house in New Hampshire was well-maintained with her flower and vegetable gardens, which was her second biggest passion. The memorial will be held at the Phaneul Funeral Home C.S. of New Hampshire on 172 King St. in Boscawen, N.H. for family and friends. She will be interred at the Homa family site, Restlawn Cemetery in Perry, Maine at a later date. Condolences may be sent in care of Charlene Wehry or Charles F. Homa, P.O., Box 1693, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
