Getting this email from Legacy brought wonderful memories of Dieter back to my world, but it1 also amazed me that it's been 8 years since his passing. I reread what I wrote 8 years ago, and the memories are still the same. Thanks for reminding me--we too often forget terrific people too soon after they are gone.

To the Family of Dieter Weissbrodt:
My name is Norma Theberge Burdett and I went to school with Dieter all my life. We went to Mark Hopkins and Drury High School and I have to tell you I was so saddened to hear of his death. Your loved one was a very funny kid; we all thought he was so special. I have not seen him in a very long time and also I have lived on Merritt Island in Florida since 1965. Please know that my sympathy is being sent to all of you. Dieter was so special.

Mary and family,
So sad and shocked to read of Dieter`s passing. always enjoyed talking to him,and found him to be genuine, always.Mary and I became sort of bonded many years ago at the old North Adams Hospital, when we were both patients in the Children`s Ward , where we both had our appendix removed. In those days, it was a big deal, and you had to stay there at least a week. That fall Mary came to Freeman School, and we became class mates also.It was pretty funny, the first time I met Dieter, and Mary said ,
(referring to our scars)I`ll show you mine if you show me yours!!! We always had a great laugh about that.Dieter was a great guy with a great sense of humor and he will be greatly missed.

Mary, Jennifer, Dan, and David,
We are blessed to have had the opportunity to know Dieter. His contagious smile will remain with us forever. We will always remember the laughs we shared over dinner at Dan and Kate's loft, and the reason Mary and Dieter had to leave early that night. He will live forever in our hearts.

Mary,
It's been bad enough not seeing you and Dieter at craft shows for the past few years, but to now hear of Dieter's passing has really deepened my sense of loss. His wit, the tenderness underlying his business-like exterior, his story-telling, and his obvious loving of you and the rest of his family are what I'll miss most. Do come visit with us at a craft show this summer.

There will be a big hole at craft shows with no Dieter. It was always a treat when he stopped by to chat. My entire family has such wonderful memories of hanging out with him over the many years of doing craft shows together. His sense of humor was always a highlight. I will miss his jokes. So many great "Dieter" stories and memories can be told. We are so sad and my family wishes to send their love to Mary. Dieter will be missed.
