Dolores Aberdale Obituary
Dolores Aberdale

1938 - 2016 Housatonic Dolores (Dee) Twarog Aberdale, 78, of 22 Linda Lane, passed away on October 23 in her home surrounded by her family. Dee re-joined her loving husband of 51 years, Joseph William Aberdale, who died in January 2014. She is survived by their four children: Dee's eldest daughter Debra Aberdale, her eldest son Joseph Andrew Aberdale and daughter-in-law Carole Tarnawa Aberdale, her youngest son Andrew Aberdale and daughter-in-law LindaLeigh Richert Aberdale, and her youngest daughter Suzanne Marie Aberdale and daughter-in-law Kathryn Kannar Aberdale. Dee was especially proud of her three grandchildren: Andrew A. Aberdale, II; Kayla Lynne Aberdale; and Joseph Francis Aberdale. Born on May 15, 1938 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Dee was the middle child of the late Andrew Stanley Twarog (1907-1974) and the late Stella Kiluk Twarog (1913-1974). Dee had three siblings. The firstborn Twarog child, Andrew, died in infancy. Dee suffered the loss of her elder sister Joan Twarog Szpakanik in 2000. Dee was especially close to her younger sister Maryann Twarog Enderle, who died in 2009. Dee shared this painful loss with her brother-in-law Joseph Enderle, Jr.; her niece Theresa and husband Bill Bachhuber; nephew Paul Enderle; and niece Christine and husband Ken Olson and their children Nicolas and Jillian. Dee is survived by many close relatives. She shared many fond memories with her aunt Marion Kiluk Lachut, her cousin Debra Bulewich Valliere, and Dee's brother-in-law Terry and wife Barbara Aberdale. Dee leaves behind many long-time friends whom she considered family, especially Barbara and Cliff Perreault, Sonny and Tina Tarnawa, and Clyde Richert. Her other close friends were many, so they are regrettably not listed here. Dee graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1956. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Hampden College of Pharmacy in Williman-sette in 1960. Dee married her true love and former classmate, Joseph Aberdale, in 1962. Together they became proprietors of Housatonic Pharmacy and Aberdale Liquors. From 1975-1986, Dee was employed at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, where she filled the roles of Chief Pharmacist, Director of Materials Management, Purchasing Agent, and Department Manager of Central Service. Dee began working at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield in 1988, where she served as Supervisor of Purchasing and Contract Management for 7 years. In 1995 Dee returned to Fairview Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy where she remained until 2012, when she chose to retire from her 52-year-long career. Dee had many hobbies including bee keeping, sewing, basketry, vacationing at the Cape, and boating on Lake George. Her favorite pastime by far was spending time with friends and family, enjoying the company of her grandchildren, and cuddling her dog Sophie. Dee recently experienced her trip of a lifetime to Poland where she met relatives, took in the local sites, visited the birthplace of Pope John Paul II, and prayed at the Black Madonna of Our Lady of Czestochowas. Dee frequently worshipped at the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge, and she especially enjoyed the spiritual guidance of the Brothers John Bryda and Ken Galisa. She was also a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Housatonic.
