Donald M. Clemett

1962 - 2015 RICHMOND Mr. Donald M. Clemett, age 53, of 298 West Rd., died Friday, Aug. 28th at Berkshire Medical Center after suffering a heart attack. He was born in North Adams, Aug. 8, 1962, the son of the late Donald and Augusta Clemett. He was educated in the local schools and was a 1980 graduate of Taconic High School's carpentry program. Initially employed by the town of Richmond Dept. of Public Works as an equipment operator, he later became employed with the former WMECO/Northeast Utilities as a substation electrician. He then became a lineman, rated 1st class, a job he loved. In addition to his employment with the electrical company, he also was an accomplished welder / fabricator and an auto mechanic. An extra class amateur radio operator, his call sign was KE1LD. Mr. Clemett enjoyed his summer vacations to Kennebunkport, ME and loved all animals. especially Chocolate Labs and most recently, his former lab "Bart". An accomplished fly fisherman, he tied his own flies and enjoyed classic country music. Don was proud of being a life long resident of Richmond and volunteered as a member of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Dept. and as an EMT aboard the Richmond Ambulance. He enjoyed his own garden and grew garlic and the very " hottest of peppers". He was also known to make and distill his own liquors. His parents, Donald and Augusta as well as his sister, predeceased him. He is survived by his extended family and close friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: CLEMETT, DONALD M., age 53 of Richmond died Aug. 28th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be WEDNESDAY from 4 to 7p.m. Funeral services will be held THURSDAY morning at 10a.m. at the FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. William Furey, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
