Donald P. Krupka

1925 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Donald Paul Krupka, 86, of Pittsfield, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 6, 1925, son of Wasil and Edwina Dubiski Krupka, he was a graduate of Pittsfield schools. A World War II veteran, Mr. Krupka enlisted with the Navy on March 9, 1943. He served as a Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class, landing on both Normandy and Okinawa invasions, and was honorably discharged with three bronze stars and eight other medals on Febr. 25, 1946. Mr. Krupka was employed by General Electric Company in the Power Transformer Department for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He had also worked part-time at Cheyne Awning Co.

He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in West Stockbridge. He was a member and had been Vice Commander of the of the Joseph Libardi Post 254 of the American Legion and Post 448 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the G.E. Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs and life member of IUE Local 255. Mr. Krupka had been a member of the Pittsfield Senior Center and the Great Years Seniors of West Stockbridge and had been a member of the Sportsmen's Clubs in Pittsfield and West Stockbridge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Krupka's wife, the former Mitzi Sciola, whom he married June 3, 1950, died Jan. 14, 1986.

He is survived by a brother, Peter M. Krupka, of Pittsfield, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Krupka was predeceased by a brother, Michael Krupka, and a sister, Ann MacHaffie.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Donald P. Krupka will be held Thursday, September 13, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in West Stockbridge, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Krupka may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
