Donald H. Lagess

1930 2014 ADAMS Mr. Donald Harry Lagess, 83 of Adams, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at North Adams Commons after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Adams on August 1, 1930, a son of the late Harry and Bertha (Wolanke) Lagess. He attended schools in Adams. Mr. Lagess last worked as an assembler in the power transformer division of General Electric Co., Pittsfield until his retirement. He was a member of the Adams Senior Citizens, the Maple Grove Civic Club and the retired men's club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. Don was a loving and devoted uncle who devoted all his time to his nieces and nephews. His wife, the former Helen Dydowicz, whom he married on August 26, 1956, died on May 10, 2012. He is survived by, one brother; Bruce Lagess and his wife, Linda of Cheshire; two sisters; Elaine Smith and her husband, Carlyle and Barbara Lagess, all of Adams; three nephews; Brian Lagess and his wife, Tammy, Evan Lagess and his wife, Jessica and Keith Lagess; five nieces; Linda Blair and her husband, Robert, Nancy Ritter-Wixsom and her husband, Charles, Gayle Galli-Bourret and her husband, Michael, Dayle Lic and her husband Thomas, and Ellen Jones and her husband, Paul. His sister-in-law; Alice Dydowicz and by his caregiver, Kayla Keefner who lovingly cared for and about Don. He was also survived by many other grandnieces, grand nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lagess who was killed in action in the Korean Conflict. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Monday, March 24, at 10 a.m. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Deacon Gregory LeFreniere, from the Parish of Blessed John Paul, Adams, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
