Donald Victor Myrick

1946-2013 PITTSFIELD Donald Victor Myrick, 67, of 79 Richmond Avenue, Pittsfield, died Sunday,September 1, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Westfield on July 30, 1946, a son of Victor E. and Phyllis B. Higgins Myrick, he was a graduate of Smith Vocational High School in Northampton. A Viet Nam War veteran, Mr. Myrick enlisted was inducted into the United States Army on June 8, 1966, served more than a year-and-a-half overseas, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant on June 7, 1972. Mr. Myrick was employed by Brammall, Inc., of Angola, Indiana, where he was a salesman for 23 years retiring at the age of 62. Following his retirement, he was a van driver for Canyon Ranch for five and a half years. He also worked two nights a week as a security guard at SABIC for five years. He was a member of Bass Ridge Golf Club where he played with a Friday night league. He was also a member of the National Rife Association and enjoyed debating the issue of gun control. Mr. Myrick's family and his dog, Sasha, were his greatest joy. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing. Mr. Myrick leaves his wife, the former Mary L. Bink, whom he married December 25, 1975. He is also survived by two sons, Martin Myrick and his wife, Tanya, of Pittsfield, and David Pettit and his wife, Brenda, of Pittsfield; two daughters, Laura Feeley and her husband, Mark, of Springfield; and Samantha Loveday and her husband, James, of Pittsfield; two brothers, Ronald Higgins of Worthington, and Peter Myrick and his wife, Marion, of Worthington; two sisters, Carol Myrick and her companion, John Hatch, of Worthington, and Patricia Myrick of Worthington; and nine grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Robert Myrick and Paul Myrick. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Donald Victor Myrick will be held Sunday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m., at The Masonic Temple, 116 South Street, Pittsfield. Burial will be private in Worthington Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
