Douglas K. Wylde

1935 - 2014 STAMFORD, VT Douglas K. Wylde, 79, of 1135 Main Road, Stamford, Vt., died Monday Aug. 18, 2014 at the BMC Satellite Emergency Facility in North Adams. He was born on Feb. 17, 1935 in North Adams, a son of the late Edward and Grace (Kay) Wylde. He graduated from Williamstown High School and Williston Academy and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In his younger years he was employed at Continental Air Lines in Colorado. Doug was part-owner in the family business BerkMatics until his retirement in June of 2014. He was a member of the Greylock Divers Association, past president of Stamford Fish and Game Association, member of East Mountain Sportsman's Club; a member of the National Ski Patrol at Dutch Hill in Stamford; and enjoyed Sunday morning Men's Golf League at the Stamford Valley Golf Course. Mr. Wylde was a civic leader serving as the First President of the Northern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce; advisor to McCann Technical High School; chairman of the school board for the Stamford Elementary School; and obtained the rank of Deputy Chief of the Stamford Vol. Fire Co and was honored for his 35 years of service.; retired Vermont forest Warden and was the Past Grand Marshall of the Fall Foliage Parade and Past President of the Industrial Management Club. He was a member of the Stamford Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie (Rennie) Wylde, whom he married on July 2, 1971. Two daughters, Donna Kay Benoit of Clarksburg and Michelle Wylde of Stamford Vt. One son, Audie Wylde of Clarksburg. Two stepdaughters, Karen Jongenelen of Clayton, Ga. and Donna Hart of Savannah, Ga. He also leaves eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Cornelia Perlman of Henderson, Nev.; a brother, Russell Wylde of Bennington, Vt. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-son and a brother, Wilfred Ducharme and Arthur Wylde. FUNERAL NOTICE: At his request there will be no services or calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date.
