Edward Astore, Sr. 1941 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Edward J. Astore, Sr., 71, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Melissa, at 73 Stoddard Ave. Born in Pittsfield on May 11, 1941, the son of John and Margaret Nugai Astore, he was a 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Astore worked as an Inspector at General Electric in Pittsfield for many years and later worked for General Dynamics. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He was a former Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball coach and also a Pee Wee Football coach. Ed was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was a former communicant of the former Mt. Carmel Church. Mr. Astore leaves his former wife, Patricia Astore; a daughter, Melissa Astore Turner and her husband Darren; two sons, Edward Astore Jr. and Timothy Astore, all of Pittsfield; a brother, Peter Astore; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Edward J. Astore, Sr., will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, CSS, Priest in Residence. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, July 9, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to the , care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
