1922 2013 PITTSFIELD Edward E. Elmstrom, 91, died peacefully at Springside Nursing Care after a 10 year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Edward was born on January 22, 1922 to the late Herbert B. and Hulda O. (Peterson) Elmstrom. He move to Pittsfield as a young boy and attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High school; Edward join the U.S. Navy , he served his country with distinction as a U.S. Navy Seabee on Guam from 1942 until 1946.

He worked as an Electrician at General Electric for over 46 years, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church. A proud member of the Lanesboro American Legion, he is also a member of both the G.E. Quarter Century club and Pensioners Clubs.

Edward later married the love of his life Mary L. Vuillemot, on September 9, 1950. Together they enjoyed many years of happiness before his illness. Edward will be missed by his son Stephen E. Elmstrom and his partner Renne Schmidt of Ashfield; his daughters, Maryanne Ryan and her husband Stephen, of Brewster; Kathleen Poelke and her Husband Steven of Oceanside, Calif.; Kristina Younger and her husband Mark of Grafton, N.Y.; and Mellisa Abato and her husband Richard of Gorham, Maine. He will also be missed by his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Elmstrom, Patrick Ryan, Ashley Ryan and Chelsea Ryan; H. Alex Younger and Emily Younger. He will also be missed by his great grandson Christopher Elmstrom Jr.

He was predeceased by a son, Gunnery Sargent Craig Elmstrom U.S.M.C., his brother Carl Elmstrom and a sister Virginia Butler.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Gregory on Monday January 28, 2013 at St. Charles Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. at Devanny-Condron Funeral Home 40 Maplewood Ave.
