Edward J. Skutnik 1936 - 2012 SARASOTA, FL Edward Skutnik, 76, of Sarasota, formerly of Lenox, Mass., passed away peacefully July 6, 2012, with his loving family by his side. Born Jan. 2, 1936, in Ludlow, Mass., he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Skutnik. Ed was a graduate of Ludlow High School and was a radioman in the Navy, sailing the world, much to his delight. Ed worked for ARA Services in Springfield, Mass., and got transfered to Pittsfield GE in 1964. In 1970, Ed purchased Rex Products, a snack food distributorship and had accounts throughout Berkshire County. After Ed retired, he and his wife lived full time in their motorhome, traveling North America for 10 years. Ed loved traveling, bowling, watching the Red Sox and Patriots, and most of all his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Fatzinger) Skutnik; son Joseph and wife Dottie of Pittsfield; daughter Sheryl Alderton and husband Robert of Lenox; seven grandchildren, John, Samantha, Marissa and Jenna Skutnik and Amy, Robbie and Ryan Alderton; a brother, Stanley Skutnik and wife Margaret of Ware, Mass. Ed was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Skutnik. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Ed's name may be made to Tidewell Hospice House, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
