Edward Gerald Sprague

1929-2013 Mr. Edward Gerald Sprague, 84 of 611 State Rd. North Adams, died Thursday October 17, 2013 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. He was born in North Adams, on January 6, 1929, son of Gerald and Julia (LePak) Sprague. He attended local schools and graduated from the Drury High School in 1948. Mr. Sprague was a veteran of the US Navy. Edward worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the North Adams Country Club. Edward also enjoyed travel and was an avid sports fan. He particularly enjoyed watching his granddaughter's sporting events and Williams College sports. His wife was the former Nancy A. Galipeau who died on August 30, 2002. They were married on April 21, 1950. Survivors include his daughter Donna J. Westcott and her husband, Jay of North Adams; and two sons including Shaun E. Sprague and his wife, Diane of Adams and Gerald M. Sprague and his wife, Melinda of North Adams. He also leaves his seven grandchildren including Joshua, Aaron, Nathan, Jared, Taylor, Hadley, and Jayda; and his three great granddaughters including Lyra, Ava, and Alexis; and two brothers including Cyril Sprague of Little River, SC and Philip Sprague of North Adams; and two sisters including Eleanor Dalton of Adams and Katherine Kolis of Clarksburg; and nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister are deceased including Geraldine Teeple and Paul Sprague. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services and burial for Edward Sprague will be private. There are no calling hours.
