Elaine G. Knollmeyer 1915 - 2012Pittsfield Librarian PITTSFIELD Miss Elaine G. Knollmeyer, 97, of 42 Mountain Drive, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at home. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 24, 1915, daughter of Louis F. and Kathryn Ryan Knollmeyer, she was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1937 from Barnard College in New York City. Miss Knollmeyer was employed as a librarian for 27 years at the Berkshire Athenaeum, serving as the supervisor of adult circulation. She retired in 1976. Miss Knollmeyer loved trips to the ocean and enjoyed canoeing and swimming. She was an avid reader and a great cook. Her greatest joy was spending time with her immediate and extended family. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. Miss Knollmeyer leaves a brother, Roger A. Knollmeyer of Pittsfield, and 17 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lewis Knollmeyer, Donald Knollmeyer and Paul Knollmeyer, and a sister, Isabelle Knollmeyer. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Miss Elaine G. Knollmeyer will be Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor of Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
