Eleanor F. Whitehouse

1922 - 2016 Eleanor Fuller Shedd Whitehouse, age 93, passed away on 11 Sept. 2016 following a very brief bout of pneumonia. Eleanor was born 27 Oct. 1922 in Akron, Ohio to Emerson and Eleanor F Shedd. She graduated HS at Northfield School for Girls (now Northfield Mount Hermon) in Northfield, MA. She graduated with the Class of 1941. Eleanor entered Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington, VT, and graduated as a registered nurse. She met Arnold "Whitie" Whitehouse, an MP in the Army Air Corps who was stationed nearby. They were married in N. Ferrisburg, VT in 1945, and moved to New Marlboro MA where they raised their family in the wonderful town of Hartsville. In 1970 they moved to Maine, spending the rest of their lives on Langsford Road in their beloved Cape Porpoise. Eleanor was a longtime member of the choir at the Church on the Cape. She worked as an RN in Fresno CA, Massachusetts and continued her career in nursing in Maine. She retired from Southern Maine Medical Center where she was also active in the hospital auxiliary, the TWIGs. She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, by her sister, Pollyann Shedd Smith. She is survived by her brother, E. Warner Shedd, wife Edie, E. Calais VT, daughter Eleanor F Whitehouse, husband Jack Zwick, Salisbury NC, son Arnold (Buddy) Whitehouse, wife Mimi, Sanford ME, son Jonathan Whitehouse, wife Miriam, Kennebunk ME, nine grandchildren: William Stewart Jr, Potsdam NY, Eleanor Poling, Clifton Park NY, Cameron Whitehouse, NYC, Jesse Whitehouse, Kennebunk, Danika Whitehouse, Wells ME,Carlin,Whitehouse,Portland ME, Sprague Whitehouse, Portland, OR, Grayson Whitehouse NYC, McHale Whitehouse, Montreal Quebec, Three great grandchildren: Samuel and Phillip Poling, Clifton Park NY, Liora Whitehouse, Portland, ME.
