CAPE CORAL, FL - Elias Sabin, 90, of 4920 Viceroy Court, Cape Coral, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Grodno, Poland, on Jan. 6, 1922, son of Abraham and Bertha (Goldberg) Sabin. He came to the United States at an early age and settled in Worcester, MA. He attended Worcester schools and also attended Becker College. Elias was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He was last employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in its North Adams office for many years until his retirement.
Elias was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in North Adams. He was also a member of the North Adams Lions Club. Eli was an avid tennis player and golfer and was a member of the Brodie Mountain Tennis Club.
His wife, the former Selma Bund, died on Dec. 25, 1995. They were married on Jan. 4, 1953.
Survivors include one son, Donald L. Sabin of Trion, GA; nieces and nephews.
A brother, William Sabin, and a sister, Goldie Sabin, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Elias Sabin will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg, MA. There are no calling hours.
