1921-2013 NORTH ADAMS Elizabeth Mary Maroni Dassatti, 91 of 82 Furnace Street, North Adams, died Tuesday January 29, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Monroe Bridge, Mass., on March 10, 1921, a daughter of Cherubino Maroni and Annie (Donati) Maroni. She lived in Monroe Bridge for a short time and came to North Adams. Mary graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1940.
In her early career Mary was employed at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams, but she will best be known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother who loved to bake and knit for her family. She was a long time communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was very active in the water aerobics at the YMCA.
Mary was the widow of Erminio "Ernie" V. Dassatti whom she married on August 30, 1947. He died on April 2, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter - Mary Ann Dassatti, and her husband Eric Gross of Holyoke, Mass., four sons; Ed Dassatti and his wife, Mary Ellen of Loudonville, N.Y.; Carey Dassatti and his wife Peggy of Barrington, Ill.; Richard Dassatti and his wife, Sheila of North Adams; and Bob Dassatti and his wife, Tracy of Laconia, N.H. Thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Maurice "Buddy" Maroni and his wife, Barbara of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Marie Maroni of North Adams and several nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her brother, Henry J. Maroni.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for E. Mary Dassatti will be Saturday February 2, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral home are Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
