Elizabeth "Bannie" Giovanetti

1922-2013 LENOX Mrs. Elizabeth "Bannie" Giovanetti, 90, of 320 Pittsfield Rd. Lenox, died Saturday February 23, 2013 at Providence Care Center of Lenox where she resided for the past two years.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 23, 1922 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Burns Byrne. She was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School, and formerly was an undergraduate of the Elms College in Chicopee, Mass.

Bannie worked at the US Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC during World War II.

When she returned to Pittsfield she worked at GE until her marriage in 1951. She later became employed as a secretary at the Berkshire Regional Office of the Diocesan Office of Religious Education, retiring in 1999.

She was a current member of the Women's Interfaith Institute, the Italian American Club, a member of the Ladies Sodality at the former All Souls Parish where she also was a lector.

She was a former member of the National Association of Lay Ministry and the Town Players of Pittsfield.

She loved to dance and square dance and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren.

She leaves her husband Louis J. Giovanetti whom she married Oct. 13, 1951 at the former St. Mary's Church.

Two sons Kevin Giovanetti of Harrisburg, Va., and Thomas Giovanetti of Pittsfield. Four daughters Mary Davidson of South Egremont, Mass., Ann Plunkett of Laconia, N.H., Rose Giovanetti of Somverville, Mass., and Rita Giovanetti of Pittsfield.

She is also survived by her beloved ten grandchildren, Joseph, Windy, Grace, and Christopher Plunkett, Graham, Eli and Simone Giovanetti, Neena Race, Ali and Driss Bourzgui. Bannie also leaves two sisters Kathryn B. Connors of Pittsfield and Rita B. Drumm of Wrentham, Mass.

She was predeceased by two sisters Mary B. Maloy in 1991 and Joan Heaton in 2012 and a brother John O. Byrne in 1999.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Mrs. Elizabeth " Bannie" Giovanetti died Saturday February 13, 2013.

Funeral services will be Saturday March 2, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Josephs Church celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS. Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME on Friday March 1, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m.
