Elizabeth Harrison Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Harrison

1926 - 2015 PITTSFIELD It is with great sadness that we announce to our family and friends the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Wheeler Harrison, wife of William Harrison, 88 years young, of Baver Drive. Betty is pre-deceased by her husband, William, who died in 1984, after 36 years of a wonderful life together. Betty was born to loving parents, Russell and Madeline Farnum Wheeler, at St. Luke's Hospital on May 17, 1926, the fourth of eight siblings. She was a 1944 honors graduate of Lenox High School and upon graduation, entered the General Electric Company as an administrative assistant in the Power Transformer Division, where she worked for five years. In 1946, she met her husband, William F. Harrison, and was married on September 20, 1948. In the ensuing years, Betty and Bill brought up five children and after they were grown, Betty pursued a career in the banking business for over 20 years, both at Berkshire Bank & Trust, and Lenox National Bank. She was a long time communicant of St. Theresa's Church and enjoyed volunteering for many social programs within the Church. St Mark Church was her current parish, and over the past few years, helped her daughter in their Family Sponsorship Program and other family charities within the Church. Betty and her husband Bill loved ballroom dancing and even took up square dancing, when that was all the "rage" back in the 60's. She was an avid golfer, at times participating in two different leagues at the same time, and continued to play up to within a year of her passing. But most of all Betty loved being with her family, both siblings and her children. She hosted holidays at her home on Quirico Drive while the grandchildren were growing up and then traveled with them on vacations when they were older. Her home on Baver Drive, was never without various family activities and her children. All who knew Betty, will miss her, and smile when they think of her. She was a much loved wife, mom and grams and highly respected friend, neighbor, golfing partner and family and parish member. Betty leaves to mourn her passing, four loving children and their spouses; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Mrs. Theresa and Mayor Daniel Bianchi, Dennis and Annabel Harrison, Shaun and Patricia Harrison, Brian and Kathleen Harrison and Thomas Harrison, who predeceased her in 2010. Her grandchildren, Mr. Benjamin Bianchi, Mr. Matthew Bianchi, and Ms. Madeline Bianchi, Mr. Michael Harrison, Mr. Ethan Harrison, Mrs. Nora Welden, Mr. Matthew Harrison and Mrs. Patricia Martin, Ms. Kallan Harrison and Mr. Connor Harrison, Ms. Colleen Harrison, Ms. Courtney Harrison and Mr. William Harrison, Mr. Damien Harrison and Mr. Warren Harrison. Her great-grandchildren, Stella Harrison, Samuel Harrison, Lily Harrison, Hope Harrison, Jayden Harrison, Mr. Jake Harrison, Nevaeh Harrison, Shayla Harrison. Betty is also survived by her sister, Barbara Sibley; and her brother, Robert Wheeler, both of Lenox, Mass. FUNERAL NOTICE: Betty died Friday April 3. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be held Tuesday from 3 - 7. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Church with the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest donations to St. Mark Church Parish Charities, on West Street in Pittsfield, in memory of Elizabeth Harrison. The funeral home will graciously accept these donations on behalf of the family.
