Elizabeth Horton Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Horton

1921-2013 Elizabeth (Betty) Horton beloved wife of the late Earl Austin Horton passed away peacefully on November 12, 2013, in Manchester N.H., surrounded by family members. Betty was born on June 22, 1921 in Cheshire Mass., one of seven children of Dominick and Deliah Belini. Raised in Farnams, Mass. Betty spent most of her life in Pittsfield, with Earl, her husband of 51 years where they raised two children, Thomas and Philip. After raising her boys, Betty worked for the Pittsfield School District for many years, retiring in 1987. Shortly after her husband Earl passed away in 2001 Betty moved to Bedford, N.H., where she lived with her son Philip and his family, and more recently at the Bentley Commons Assisted Living Facility, in Bedford N.H. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends at Bentley Commons. She also enjoyed her time with her extended circle of friends at the Manchester Easter Seals adult day program. Betty was a quiet person, who touched all of us with her remarkable compassion, kindness and concern for the people around her. Betty enjoyed her favorite television shows, especially weekend golf tournaments. She was a passionate fan of Phil Mickelson and was always extremely excited when he won a tournament. Betty was preceded in passing by her husband Earl and her siblings Biagio, Albert, Aldo, Ned, and Lena. She is survived by her sister Alma Horonzy of Pittsfield, her son Dr. Thomas Horton and daughter-in-law Dr. Carol Orlando of North Potomac, Maryland and her son Philip and daughter-in-law Lauren Horton of Bedford N.H. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Tyler Horton and his wife Liz Horton of Montclair N.J., Zachary of West Roxbury, Mass., Matte of Bedford N.H., and Thomas Horton of North Potomac Md., as well as nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours are 4:00-7:00 PM on November 15 at the Dery Funeral Home in Cheshire MA. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Cheshire on Nov 16 at 9:00 AM followed by internment at the Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to Easter Seals of NH in memory of Betty, either on-line or via mail at Easter Seals of NH, Attn: Development Department, 555 Auburn Street, Manchester, NH 03103.
