Emerico L. Spagnuolo

1931 - 2016 Mr. Emerico "Rico" L. Spagnuolo, 84, of 46 Abbott St., passed away on August 16, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on November 16, 1931 the son of Giosue G. and Maria Grazia Garzone Spagnuolo, he attended Pittsfield schools. Rico served in the US Navy on the USS Wright CVL49 as part of the refueling crew during the Korean War. Rico married his wife, the former Margaret Belouin, on September 8, 1956. He worked construction for many years before becoming a carpenter for the City of Pittsfield Building Department. He retired from the city in 1979 due to a heart condition. Rico was a communicant of St. Charles Parish in Pittsfield. He was a member of the Springside Garden Club, a life member of the Friends of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center and a life member of the VFW. Rico was an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed cooking. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His granddaughters meant the world to him and he treasured his time with them. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, who passed away in 2010. He is survived by a daughter Donna Beach and her husband Donald of Dalton, two granddaughters Leann Beach of Maine and Katy Beach of Pittsfield; his sister, Theresa G. Murphy of Housatonic and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Samuel, Alphonse, John, Joseph and Anthony Spagnuolo and his sisters, Mary Maiorano and Florence A. Kiley. A special thank you to the staff at Berkshire Medical Center Dialysis Unit and to the staff of Berkshire Medical Center ICU and 3rd floor Intermediate Care Unit for their compassionate care shown to Rico and his family. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Emerico L. Spaguolo will be Friday, August 19, 2016 at 12 noon at St. Charles Church celebrated by his nephew, Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta parish in Housatonic and St. Peter parish in Great Barrington. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date, following cremation, at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations, in Rico's memory, may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis (FORD), care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St. Pittsfield, MA.
