Emma C. Hover
1921-2012 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Emma C. Hover, 91, of 91 Brown St., Pittsfield died Monday, December 10, 2012 at her home.
She was born in North Adams, Mass. on August 25, 1921, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Francesca (Gaspardi) Cattaneo, and her family moved to New Ashford, Mass. a few years later. She attended schools in New Ashford. She was employed by the General Electric Plastics during World War II and later in the thread and plastics mills in Pittsfield.
Emma loved to go fishing, grow flowers and vegetables, crocheting, crafts, listening to polka music, and watching the animals and birds in yards.
She was the widow of George C. Hover III who died on August 17, 1986. They were married on August 23, 1947.
Survivors include one son, George J. Hover and one daughter, Christine A. Hover, both of Pittsfield; one brother Giovanni (John) Cattaneo of New Ashford; three sisters, Zita Darling of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, Rose Castagna of Richmond, Mass., Doris Hughes of Elbridge, New York; two grandchildren, Nathan S. Hover and Dustin M. Hover, both of Pittsfield; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emma was predeceased by three sisters, Catherine (Rina) Cattaneo, Lucy Piantoni, and Anita Golin; and a sister-in-law, Glenna Olsen.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Emma C. Hover will take place Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 9 a.m. to the time of the service.
