Emma Jaouen

1921 - 2014 LEE Emma E. Jaouen, 93, formerly of Laurel Street died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Fairview Commons, Great Barrington. She was born in Pittsfield, on Sept. 12, 1921, she was the daughter of William and Edna Jepson Shaver. Emma was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She worked at General Electric during World War II and moved to Lee in 1940. She and her husband, Andre W. Jaouen, Sr. were married Feb. 3, 1945 and they celebrated 49 years of marriage until his death in 1994. Emma was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a volunteer for Right to Life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, painting, reading, rug braiding, playing bridge and especially enjoyed spending time with her family Emma is survived by three sons; Andre W. Jaouen, Jr. (Marcia), of Lee; Peter F. Jaouen (Paulette), of Naples, FL; and Thomas J. Jaouen (Denise) of West Stockbridge; two daughters; Cathleen J. Aldrich (Richard), of Lee; Denise L. Collins (Paul), also of Lee, as well as 16 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Frances Jaouen of Lee. In addition to her husband, Emma was predeceased by her son, Edward F. Jaouen in 1965, and a great-grandson, Theodore Collins in 2011. She is also predeceased by a brother, Charles Shaver, and her sisters, Dorothy Salinetti, Eleanor Goodrich, and Irene Audet. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Dec. 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no visiting hours and the Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Those wishing may make donations to Pregnancy Support Services of Pittsfield in care of the Kelly Funeral Home at 3 Main St. Lee, Ma 01238.
