Eric Verchot Obituary

Eric Peter Verchot

1985 - 2010 PITTSFIELD Eric P. Verchot, 24, of Pittsfield, passed away suddenly on April 1, 2010.

Born on April 21, 1985, in Pittsfield, he was the beloved son of Peter Joseph "PJ" and Maribeth Peck Verchot.

Eric grew up in Pittsfield where he was a Little Leaguer, a member of the F.U.M.C.'s youth group and a Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby winner. He was a 2003 Taconic High school graduate, and after finishing high school, Eric went to work with his father as a roofer. Eric was a quick learner and he went to work with Anthony Murad Builders of Lebanon, N.Y. at the same time. He was employed at Interprint at the time of his death.

He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed everything nature had to offer, like taking long drives with his friends through the woods. He also enjoyed skateboarding and spending time with family and friends. Eric was a very conscientious young man and was a very hard worker who understood the importance of being a good man and father.

Besides his parents, Maribeth and Peter Verchot of Pittsfield, Eric leaves his two sons, Odin Bradley and Jacob Peter Verchot, both of Pittsfield; his longtime love, best friend, and the mother of his children, Vanessa Nicloa of Pittsfield; three brothers, Joey and Jason Verchot, both of Pittsfield, and Michael Clapper of Virginia; one sister, Sabrina Verchot of Pittsfield; his grandparents, Bruce Peck and Janice Mulaney, both of Pittsfield. He also leaves his niece, Leah Verchot, along with many other nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives.

Eric was predeceased by his grandparents, Cecilia and Peter Verchot and Lucy Peck.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: Everyone is invited to a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Eric's life on Tuesday, April 7, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield. Donations in Eric's memory may be made to the Odin and Jacob Verchot Scholarship Fund, in care of the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.

Below is a quote that was dear to Eric's heart, that his family wanted to share with you:

"That my soul may soar,

I see the strength,

Not to be greater

Than my brother,

But to fight my greatest

enemy, MYSELF"

I was shocked and saddened to find out that eric had passed away. How early he was to leave his friends and family. I remember how we use to play chess and he praise me as the first person to win against him. He would never give up though(constantly asking for another rematch even I didn't want to play anymore) even when I won 3 games in a row, but eventually he tied and even beat me. I am still waiting for my rematch against you eric. May we meet again in heaven. My sincerest grievance goes to vanessa, his 2 loving sons Odin and Jacob, family and close friends. I will miss you.

My heart grieves for your loss. He sounds like such a great man. I'm sure he will be missed greatly by many. May God walk him through the path of Heaven's door and help all those left behind with their sadness.

It’s unbelievable how time gets away from us. You made school bearable for me, at a time when most things were anything but. You could make me laugh even if I was in tears. Do you remember how personal you took it when I confessed that I had never watched all of the Freddy Krueger movies? You went right out the next day and made sure you had them all so you could make me watch them. You were always there for me. I’m at a complete loss of words Eric, this is just so shocking. The world has suffered such a terrible loss. You are in my thoughts as always. I hope you have found peace and know how much and how many people care for you.

To Eric’s parents; you were always so very kind to me when I was a kid. I am now a parent and couldn’t imagine the loss of a child, of any age. My heart goes out to you. Should you need anything, please do not hesitate in asking.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Words can't describe how i'm feeling right now. It feels like a bad dream. I'm sad, shocked and numb. You were a great person. You always had a good attitude about everything. You were a bright man with a great future. You always made everyone around you smile, laugh and have fun.You were the typical jokester. I'll never forget the time on the 4th of July you were at my house holding Odin blowing his toy horn so loud at every car that passed by. It was so hilarous. You are a caring good hearted person. You were a great father. Odin and Jacob love you so much and they are going to miss you to pieces as will your family and friends you are leaving behind. Everyone loves you. You are sadly missed. We will cherish everyday and moment we got to spend together with you. We will carry on your stories and good memories spent together with you. Everyone will make sure that your beautiful sons never forget you. We will never forget what a wonderful person you are and an amazing dad. Your soul will live on with us from now until forever. I hope you are at peace , just wish you didn't leave us so soon! Rest in peace buddy. It's not goodbye it's see you later. We'll see you on the other side. love you
