1922 - 2014 STEPHENTOWN Rev. Ernest Dale Smith passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 24, 2014 at home. He was born in Corinna, Maine on Feb. 17, 1922, the son of Archibald and Helen Smith. God called him to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which he did all his life. Preparing at Eastern Nazarene College, he met his wife, Astrid Tyyne Park, to whom he was married 70 years. Together they pastured, including starting Churches of the Nazarene in Dalton, telling the truth that you can be converted as well as entirely purified of the original sin you were born with, through the blood of Jesus Christ. Later they pastored the New Lebanon Congregational Church for about 20 years. From 1960 to 1964 he was a State Representative in Maine. He was predeceased by his wife on Sept. 25, 2013; they have five children, Brenda Christiana, David (Bonnie) Smith, Janice (Calvin) Letson, Stephen Smith and Philip (Jennifer LaBlanc) Smith; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be in Dalton, MA at the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene on Friday at 3 p.m. with a visiting time there from 2 until the time of the service. A service will be held in Fairfield, Maine on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Church of The Nazarene. In lieu of flowers contributions made to the Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene, 165 North St., Dalton or to the Pilgrim Holiness Church, 421 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA.
