Ethel B. Nagelschmidt Condron LaPier

PITTSFIELD Ethel Bates Nagelschmidt Condron LaPier, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away on March 8, 2014 with her family at her side in Ganado, Texas at the age of 96.Ethel was born February 23, 1918 in Pittsfield to John F. and Mabel E. Frederick Nagelschmidt. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1935 and was employed as a medical secretary for several area physicians until her marriage to Howard LaPier in 1977. After his death in 1999, she relocated to Edna, Texas. Survivors include her children, Frank P. Condron and his wife Peggy, John F. Condron and Mary Beth Condron LaPier of Edna, Priscilla Condron Black of Clemmons, N.C., and step daughter Mabel LaPier Watson of Hancock, Mass. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Condron Hall, Michael Condron, Pamela Condron Neuman, Angela Condron Svoboda, Denise LaPier Arndt, Michele LaPier Barnes, James LaPier, Adam Black, Joshua Black, John A. Condron, Katherine and Elizabeth Condron; five step grandchildren, Jean Hoffman, Judith and Jackie Watson, June Sheline and JoAnn Barton; 20 great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, John F. Nagelschmidt, Jr, and Ernest Nagelschmidt; sisters, Elsie Nagelschmidt, Helen Geer, Gertrude Winne and Marion Jones; her former husband, Francis P. Condron Sr.; stepson, Howard F. LaPier; grandchildren, Margaret LaPier, Stephan Condron and Samantha Black; step granddaughter, Janet Watson and her daughter, Angela Watson. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 14, at St. Agnes Church in Edna. A memorial celebration of her life will be in the spring at St. Mark's Church followed by burial in the Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Marks Memorial Fund or Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
