Ethel Pekelder Roy
1925 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Ethel Pekelder Roy, 88, of 65 Kemp Ave., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at North Adams Commons. She was born in Sheldon, Iowa on Sep. 28, 1925, daughter of Harry and Clara Debrien Pekelder, and attended schools in Sheldon. Ethel first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. She was last employed as the receptionist and manager of the museum store at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Ethel enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the North Adams Country Club. She was the widow of Lionel E. "Nel" Roy, who died on March 11, 2009. They were married on July 13, 1946. Survivors include her son, Daryl Roy and his wife, Mireille, of Clarksburg; a granddaughter, Danielle Roy of Bozeman, Mont.; a sister, Ruth Diekevers of Sheldon, Iowa, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Ethel Roy are private. There are no calling hours.
