1925 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Evelyn Mary Duffy, 89, formerly of 154 Crane Avenue died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Craneville Place in Dalton where she has resided since November of 2014. Born on December 29, 1925 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Jordan Troy. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1942 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She also was a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College. Prior to her marriage she had worked as a secretary at General Electric Company. She was a communicant of Saint Charles Church and was a member of its Dust Busters Team. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, genealogy and crossword puzzles. Her favorite holiday was Christmas of which she enjoyed decorating and cooking. She helped organize the Class of 1942 St. Joseph's High School Class Reunions. Evelyn was the wife of Robert B. Duffy whom she married April 21, 1951 at St. Charles Church; he passed away on May 18, 2014. She is survived by her son, Michael G. Duffy and his wife, Gail of Pittsfield. Her daughter, Maureen A. Duffy and her husband, John Celardo of Fanwood, N.J., two grandchildren, Meghan and Ryan Duffy, her cousin, Thomas Troy and his wife, Linda. The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to all the staff at Craneville Place for their loving care and compassion shown to Evelyn. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Saint Charles Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
