1926 - 2014 WEST STOCKBRIDGE Florence Anna Rose Spagnuolo Kiley died on Oct. 14, at Fairview Commons Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility. She was born in Pittsfield, on June 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Giosue G. and Maria Grazia (Carzone) Spagnuolo. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School. After high school Anna worked at the former Glick Brandt Pajama Factory, Lee Supermarket, and General Electric Company all in Pittsfield. Anna married her husband, the late Richard L. Kiley Jr. on June 28, 1952 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittsfield. Shortly after her marriage the couple moved to their home in West Stockbridge where she lived for many years. Anna served as librarian for the Town of West Stockbridge. During her time as librarian she helped to revitalize this important service with an increase of circulation of books and periodicals as well as developing the children's story hour which is still popular today. After retiring as town librarian Anna served on the Board of Trustees. She was a long time communicant of St. Patrick Church in West Stockbridge where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and a member of the choir. She served the parish in many capacities, always willing to share her time and talents wherever needed. She was also a longtime Mercy Sunday volunteer at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge. She leaves her daughters, Annmarie Kiley of Pittsfield and Nancy Ann Kiley of Medford; three grandsons, Joshua M. Kiley of North Adams, Avery M. Leon and Sebastian X. Leo of Medford; her sister, Theresa G. Murphy of Housatonic; and her brother Emerico L. Spagnuolo of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Kiley, Jr. in 1988; and her son, Richard L. Kiley III in 2010; and by her brothers, Samuel, Alphonse, John, Joseph, and Anthony Spagnuolo; and her sister Mary Maiorano. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church in West Stockbridge on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m. by her nephew, the Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Housatonic and St. Peter Parish in Great Barrington. Upon the request of Florence there are no calling hours. Pall bearers and anyone wishing to attend the Funeral Mass are asked to gather at the church for the 10:30 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in West Stockbridge. In lieu of flowers donations made be made in Anna's memory to the St. Patrick Maintenance Fund or to the West Stockbridge Town Library. A special thank you to the staff at Hospice Care in the Berkshires and to Fairview Commons for their compassionate care shown to Florence and her family.
